I like to photograph churches. The neat thing is that many are beautiful architectural and historical buildings. And most don't require a ticket to see and photograph. I have traveled around mid and upstate South Carolina taking pictures of churches. I choose churches with interesting styles and features. I have created several books which are available on Magcloud. Click Select Churches from South Carolina to have a look.
Mostly a photography related blog. Think About Photography refers to being ready for getting a photo at all times. This generally means carry your camera around with you as much as possible. Even without a camera, I am imagining how scenes would look in a photo..

Best book for Wildflower Identification in South Carolina
I have many wildflower identification books. My all time favorite and most useful is: Wildflowers of Tennessee, the Ohio Valley, and The Southern Appalachians by Dennis Horn and others. I have identified more flowers though this book than any other. So if you need to identify wildflowers in SC or the surrounding area I highly recommend that you get a copy of this book.

Wild Turkey in Upstate South Carolina
I went on a photo safari last week. A photo safari is a ride to somewhere in hopes of making some interesting images. On this safari, I was headed to Spartanburg to take some pinhole images of the train trestle at Converse Mill/Pacolet River. I always take my DSLR as well and as I was hunting for the trestle, I spotted this turkey right off Hwy 221 in a grain field. What a beauty. What amazing colors.

SC Dragonfly Name Database/Keyword List
I have available for purchase a sqlite3 database of SC dragonflies. This DB can be used to keep track of dragonfly sightings. Presently there are 6 fields in one table. The fields are: Common Name, Scientific Name, Family Name, Date Sighted, Location, and Notes. A clip from the DB is shown below.
This DB can be accessed from any SQLite DB browser in a internet browser or an SQLite browser application in Android. It can be used on a desktop, Android tablet or phone.
I can add more fields if desired. I can also make this available as keyword file for Lightroom. Contact me for further details.
